About the Artist

Travis is currently a senior at CSULB. He is currently trying to get his Bachelors in Fine Arts. Before he was an artist, he was a construction worker, which explains why the theme of this exhibit is based on tools. Another reason why the exhibit is based on tools is because he had a love for them.

Formal Analysis

The artwork is surrounded with a border of wood. All of the artwork have the same painting style, theme and color. His artwork looks very realistic. They are mainly black and white. The whole exhibit is based on wood and tools. The woodwork is very clean and looks like it is part of the building. You can tell that he spent a lot of time perfecting his work.

Content Analysis

This exhibit was based on his previous job as a construction worker and his love for tools. It seems that each painting was based on a tool. He stated that being an artist is similar to being a construction worker because of how precise and careful you have to be.

Synthesis/My Experience

When I first walked into this exhibit, I liked it a lot because of how simple, yet effective his artwork is. The woodwork showed that he put in a lot of effort and didn’t just simply put this all together in one night. His painting style is very unique and I like it because it is not something you see everyday, which is a nice change of pace. It kind of gives off the old school feels and the blues when you look at his painting in my opinion. Overall, I liked this exhibit a lot and appreciate his artwork.
